MEET OUR 2015 Clutch woman of the year!

ABOUT OUR 2015 WINNER:

Kobi Kennedy Brinson is a Litigation and Financial Services Partner at Winston & Strawn LLP’s Charlotte office.  She represents major financial institutions and other clients in government investigations, as well as class action litigation across the nation.   Prior to joining Winston, Kobi managed significant mortgage and retail banking litigation at both Wells Fargo and Bank of America.   After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an Undergrad, and Harvard Law School she completed a judicial clerkship before joining the Public Defender’s office in both Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC where she defended indigent clients, including juveniles, in criminal matters.  She has continued her commitment to service through her appellate pro bono work with the Guardian ad Litem’s office, and legal assistance to undocumented immigrant minors. 

In 2010, Kobi created the Annual Step Up Soiree which has raised over $100,000 to retain, recruit and develop professional dancers of color, including Jordan Leeper who now dances with the Atlanta Ballet.  In 2012, she received an Uptown Magazine Catalyst Award.  In 2016, Kobi will be one of six Charlotte “Stars” to perform at Charlotte Ballet’s Dancing with the Stars where she will dance on behalf of Access To Justice which provides funding for legal services for those most in need.  She served on the Charlotte Ballet Board for six years, as well as the Theatre Charlotte Board.  She is a past Board Chair of Youth Homes, Inc. (n/k/a Children’s Home Society) which serves abused and neglected children in the Charlotte region.

Kobi currently serves on her children’s school Board of Trustees as well as The Arts Empowerment Project Advisory Board, and The Girl Friends, Inc. National Executive Board.  She is an active member of the South Charlotte Chapter of Jack and Jill of America. Inc., the Charlotte Chapter of The Girl Friends, Inc. and is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 

She and husband, Ron, have two very active children in middle school who both compete on traveling athletic teams.  Her favorite pastimes are being a Soccer/Golf/Gymnastics Mom, collecting art, and hanging out with fabulous girlfriends whenever possible.
